Jim Pearson Transport is dedicated to controlling and eliminating risk to its employees and the general community. To reduce the risk of long distance driving fatigue, Jim Pearson Transport has in addition to the general industry guidelines, created a ¨Driver Fatigue Management Plan¨ incorporating the use of the strategically based Taree, Port Macquarie and Grafton depots. This process is unique to Jim Pearson Transport, being the first transport company to utilise a regular three part driver changeover between Sydney and Brisbane.
The plan ensures that all employees at Jim Pearson Transport are contributing to a safer workplace and are adequately rested in their home environment.
Rosters and scheduling are carefully monitored and updated to be certain that drivers have the necessary time for their required breaks and are given adequate time to reach their destinations. This prevents drivers from missing breaks, driving while they are tired or speeding to reach deadlines.
Satellite tracking and experienced fatigue management teams have been introduced to Jim Pearson Transport to enforce and monitor required driving limits and breaks.
To be certain that only those fit to drive are operating the company’s vehicles, Jim Pearson Transport conducts drug and alcohol testing. This consists of pre- employment testing and random testing.
In addition to ensuring that drivers have completed their certificate lll in transport and distribution, induction and continuous in house training are provided to all drivers.
